Freedom is a commonly misunderstood commodity and one we desperately all seek. We will fight; even give our lives for the hope of physical freedom.
There is more to being free than indulging in the many freedoms we take for granted. In this great country of the United States of America our forefathers gave their lives for our freedoms. The freedom from bondage to a government without representation and the freedoms of religion, speech and press. The freedom to live our lives for the most part, as we choose. We choose our careers, our spouses, where we live, the businesses we own, where our children go to school. We live in a country where anything is possible because we are free to make it so.
But, even with all of our physical freedoms many of us are still enslaved. We have encased ourselves in emotional prisons, held captive by our perceptions of the experiences of our lives. We build an impervious shell around ourselves made up of anger, blame and guilt; then pretend that we are safe and happy in the prisons we have made. Fear of what lies beyond our prison walls prevents us from trying to escape.
Breaking down the walls and finding our freedom is as simple as pushing through an already cracked door. Each one of us has the ability to live a magnificent life by simply choosing to break through our emotional barriers, let go of our self-perceived limitations and embrace true freedom.
Each one of us has the ability to be emotionally free and experience the pure peace that accompanies it. It is our ability to liberate ourselves our emotional attachments to the past that allows us to live a truly magnificent life.
